What is Hyperbaric Oxygen Therapy (HBOT)?
Hyperbaric oxygen therapy (HBOT) is breathing 100% oxygen while under increased atmospheric pressure.
What is Hyperbaric Oxygen Therapy (HBOT) Used For?
HBOT is used for routine wound care, treatment of most dive injuries, and treatment of patients who are ventilated or in critical care.
What are Diver Decompression Chambers?
Decompression chambers are used by commercial divers to safely decompress back to normal atsmospheric pressure after diving under high pressure at depth.
What causes an Air Embolism?
When diving under pressure, a divers bloodstream becomes saturated with gas. If a diver ascends to quickly, the dissolved gas in the bloodstream can cause air bubbles to precipitate out into the bloodstream. Bubbles in the bloodstream from any source are dangerous as they can form clots and precipitate stroke or thrombosis.
